The Declaration of Value (DOV)<\/strong> is an informative document issued by Italian diplomatic and consular missions. It describes the value of an academic qualification within the educational system in which it was awarded. It does not constitute a formal recognition of the qualification; rather, it assists educational institutions and the competent authorities responsible for the recognition of qualifications in Italy in the process of assessing such qualifications.<\/p>\n

The Embassy of Italy in Colombo may issue a Declaration of Value for academic qualifications obtained in Sri Lanka, provided that such qualifications are recognised within the Sri Lankan education system.<\/p>\n

HOW TO SUBMIT AN APPLICATION FOR A DECLARATION OF VALUE AT THE EMBASSY<\/strong><\/p>\n

A formal application for a Declaration of Value may be submitted to the Consular Office of the Embassy of Italy in Colombo personally by the applicant or by an authorised representative, after booking an appointment through the Prenot@Mi portal<\/a>.<\/p>\n

The following documents must be submitted:<\/p>\n

    \n
  1. the Declaration of Value application form, duly completed and signed by the applicant (the form can be downloaded from the following link: Declaration of Value Application Form<\/a>);<\/li>\n
  2. the original academic documents for which the Declaration of Value is requested, or certified copies thereof, accompanied by the attestation issued by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Sri Lanka;<\/li>\n
  3. documentation proving the purpose for which the Declaration of Value is being requested (a copy of the request for a Declaration of Value issued by an Italian university or public authority).<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

    PLEASE NOTE:<\/strong> For the purpose of issuing a Declaration of Value, the academic qualifications do NOT need to be legalised or translated. Therefore, legalised and translated academic qualifications should only be submitted if the Italian university or public authority to which they are to be presented has expressly requested their legalisation and translation.<\/strong><\/p>\n

    The Embassy nevertheless reserves the right to conduct checks on the authenticity of the qualifications submitted.<\/p>\n

    FEES<\/strong><\/p>\n

    A consular fee equivalent to \u20ac50 in Sri Lankan rupees<\/strong>, calculated according to the applicable exchange rate, is payable for the issuance of a Declaration of Value.<\/p>\n

    The Declaration of Value is issued free of charge for study purposes<\/strong>, provided that the relevant purpose is supported by appropriate documentation.<\/p>\n

    CIMEA STATEMENT<\/strong><\/p>\n

    As an alternative to a Declaration of Value, applicants may request a statement concerning their academic qualifications issued by CIMEA (Information Centre on Academic Mobility and Equivalence)<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

    Please note that, for the purpose of applying for a study visa, both a Declaration of Value and a CIMEA statement may be accepted, depending on the requirements of the Italian university at which the applicant intends to enrol.<\/p>\n

    Applicants are therefore advised to check the university’s requirements in advance in order to determine which documents must be submitted with the visa application:<\/p>\n
