On Sunday 10/03, on the occasion of #IORADAY2024, the Sri Lankan Ministry of Foreign Affairs organised an event open to students from the island’s primary and secondary schools to promote the sustainability of the Indian Ocean among the younger generation. The event was also attended by the Embassies of IORA member countries, including Italy, which is a ‘dialogue partner’ of the organisation.
At the stand of the Italian Embassy, coordinated at EU level, an awareness-raising video was presented on the health of the Indian Ocean and the research activities carried out in the region by the Bicocca University (Milan). In addition, books and colouring pictures representing some iconic animals in the region and some simple words in Italian were distributed.
Special thanks go to the students from the 9 provinces of Sri Lanka who, despite the heat, participated in the proposed activities with great enthusiasm.
