2024 Worlwide Week of the Italian Cuisine launched in Sri Lanka

In Sri Lanka, the celebrations for the 9th edition of the “Settimana della Cucina Italiana nel Mondo” (Worldwide Week of Italian Cuisine in the World) is unfolded through a variety of initiatives organized in collaboration with four major luxury hotels in Colombo (Cinnamon Life, Shangri-La, Cinnamon Grand, and Taj Samudra) and renowned Italian restaurants (AquaForte, AquaPizza, and Lago) located in the capital. The activities, widely publicized before and during the event through print media and social channels, are centered around the presence of five Italian chefs, each coming from a specific region in Italy, highlighting the concept of diversity that well characterizes Italian cuisine.

Throughout the week, various initiatives are organized by the partner hotels and restaurants, such as interviews in local newspapers, special menu launches, targeted advertising on social media, cooking classes, and themed dinners. These initiatives help increase visibility, spotlighting Italian food, its cuisine and the authentic Italian products.

The chefs also held training session with different culinary institutes, where future Sri Lankan chefs were trained on the key techniques for the preparation of Italian dishes, as well as the importance of using fresh ingredients and how to combine these with local produces, for high-quality results.
