PAYMENT OF PENSIONS ABROAD
INPS pays pensions to eligible beneficiaries residing abroad through Citibank, a banking institution selected through a public tender procedure. PAYMENT METHODS
Pensions are paid to beneficiaries residing abroad on a monthly basis by direct deposit into the pensioner’s bank account.
Pensions below the threshold established by the applicable legislation are instead paid every six months, in accordance with the same arrangements applicable to pensioners residing in Italy.
PROOF OF LIFE VERIFICATION
The bank responsible for pension payments is required to verify annually that the pensioner is alive, as well as the pensioner’s domicile or residential address and any income received abroad.
Under the procedure agreed between INPS and Citibank for proof-of-life verification, pensioners receive a “Life Certificate Form” (“Modulo di Certificazione di Esistenza in Vita”) at their home address.
Once the form has been completed, the pensioner must sign it and have their signature authenticated by the Italian Consular Office or by a public official authorized to do so under the laws of the country of residence. The completed form must then be sent to Citibank.
