1 Application Form
Completed visa application signed by the applicant.
2 One recent ICAO-compliant colour photograph
Full face on white background.
3 Current Passport
Passport must contain at least two blank pages and be valid for a period of at least 3 months beyond the date of return to Sri Lanka. Copies of the bio-data pages of the current and previous passports must also be provided.
4 “Nulla Osta” for Subordinate Employment (“Nulla Osta Lavoro Subordinato”)
5 Work Contract
Work contract issued by the Italian employer or company, or hiring proposal/employment contract proposal (“proposta di assunzione” / “proposta di contratto di lavoro”), signed by the representative of the Italian company and indicating the duties that the employee will be required to perform in Italy.

Copy of the passport bio-data page and National Identity Card of the representative of the Italian company requesting the “Nulla Osta”.

Copy of the company’s registration with the Italian Chamber of Commerce (“Visura Camerale”).

6 Proof of Previous Employment
Proof of previous employment in Sri Lanka, if any, demonstrating previous work experience in the sector for which the applicant will be employed in Italy.
7 Professional Qualifications
Certificates attesting to the applicant’s professional qualifications, if any, demonstrating their consistency with the sector in which the applicant will be employed in Italy.
8 Seasonal Employment Only
In the case of seasonal employment (“Lavoro Stagionale”), applicants must include a confirmed flight reservation issued by an airline or travel agency.
9 Travel Health Insurance
Required only for Schengen visas, unless it is provided under the employment contract.

Please note

  • The Embassy reserves the right to request further documentation if and when required.
  • All documents should be provided in original, accompanied by one set of photocopies in A4 size.
  • Documents in Sinhalese, Tamil or any other language must be presented with an official English translation and certified by the Sri Lankan Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
  • For non-Sri Lankan nationals, documents must be certified by the respective Embassy, High Commission or Consulate based in Colombo.
